Tea & Talkies: Meet Audiobook Narrator, Mimi Bilinski
Loveda Brown, from California text to New York audio
Hello all!
Pour a cuppa and watch the video or read the transcript. I had a good sit-down with audiobook extraordinaire and New York actress, Mimi Bilinski. She chats about everything from pronunciation to character embodiment. I explain the series spin-offs and how to get your hands on some free audiobooks. With more in between.
Fun fact: she’s dog people and I’m cat people. We should’ve taken a group pic, her pup’s adorable!
You likely have questions of you own for us! Drop them in the comments below, over on the group chat, or simply reply to the email. We can keep this convo going.
Meanwhile, I know you’re waiting for chapter four to drop next Saturday. Hattie just made a big decision about a skeleton in Louie’s closet. She needs to find out what happened twenty years ago. And who in the house knows more than they are going to admit. She’s got the key to part of the mystery in her pocket…
This is a great time to jump in with a paid subscription if you haven’t yet. Next month, Dark Alley Detectives get a private video shot from Idyllwild, California full of the details and insider info about the upcoming Ultimate Summer Search Party… wherein I hide paperbacks with prizes all over town!
Part geocache, part tour guide, part history hunt, if you show up live, you might just discover Loveda Brown’s beloved Idyllwild for yourself.
Plan your summer vacay accordingly.

I had a lovely email chat with a subscriber (SO) who couldn't seem to get a review posted here. So, with permission, I'll add it myself:
What a fun interview - I love learning more of the background of both the books and their characters as well as from the narrator and her experiences.
I have to agree with having a live person narrating as opposed to an AI. I was trying a book being read by an AI - the preview wasn't horrible, however, I cannot bare to listen to the actual book. It is simply horrid.
This interview was fun for me in several ways. As I mentioned I do love hearing about the background of what you do, but also the process of how the story line, the voices and all come together.
I listen to a ton of books via audiobook - this allows me to read so many more books. Whether I take a walk, drive in the car or work in the house - I am able to read.
Also, I am an actor (community theatre) pursuing a Voice Acting career and it was so fascinating hearing how Mimi gets into character and keeps a voice/character journal. So this interview was educational as well as informative.
I look forward to learning more about these books as you continue to share your insights and processes. Also, I will look forward to reading these historical books brought to life by Mimi Bilinski.
